The Martingale collars and Martingale leashes are perfect for the greyhound, the saluki, the whippet , the borzoi, the afghan hound and other hounds. They are great for other breeds as well such as the Standard Poodle. The Hounds-R-Us Martingale collars and Martingale leashes are made in very limited quantity. They are unique, original. Perfect for the unique and original people who love to give only the best to their companion.
How they are made:
All of our Martingale collars and Martingale leashes are custom made with top quality materials for the safety of your pets. Our Martingale collars and Martingale leashes are made with cast solid brass and nickel metal hardware. There are two rows of tripled stitches at all pressure points for safety. For the core we mostly use nylon webbing. The nylon webbing we use is lighter weight than the polypropylene webbing (but just as strong), making this webbing just right for adding ribbon or fabric trims to the Martingale collars and Martingale leashes, while eliminating excess bulk. All of our leashes and collars are also lined with satin so that they are soft and confortable for your companion.
Our Custom Made Martingale collars are offered as non-adjustable. One of the reasons is that it allows us to be more creative with the addition of different trims, which couldn't be done with an adjustable collar.
We now offer adjustable Martingale Collars, ready to ship, on our "On The Road Collection" Page. These collars are adjustable from 11" to 16" and some models are in a very limited quantity. If you see a collar that you like on this page, and if we do have more fabric in stock, we can make one and customize it further to meet your need (different width, different lining, etc).

Because they are non-adjustable Martingale Collars, it is essential that you understand how it will fit your dog, and how the measurements that we request on the product pages are important.
We ask the measurement of the neck, right behind the ears, to make sure that the Martingale collar fits your dog nicely, but that when the D-ring (where you attach the leash) is pulled, the slides nearly reach each other, and the dog cannot back out of the collar. We ask for the measurement of the dog's head at the widest part so that the collar goes over the head easily. See how to measure here.
At Houds-R-Us we don't want that for our four legged customers! We want them comfy! We know that it is a little more trouble for us human to take measurements, but we want the leash to fit your friend nicely with as much as possible of the widest soft satin lined part around their neck.
All of our customers agree that the collars fit their dogs nicely. You should not expect a collar that will be tight around your friend's neck, but a collar that will rest on the lower part of the neck when off leash. Although most of the time the shipping costs will be accurate, it's pretty difficult for our shopping cart to calculate cost for each and every possible scenario of shipping, especially for larger orders or remote domestic locations.
When orders are processed, we make sure that shipping cost is as low as possible for our customers.We verify shipping for every order and If we can ship at a lower cost then anticipated by our shopping cart, we will let you know and we will be please to issue a coupon for the difference that can be used on your next purchase, or if you prefer, to refund the amount through PayPal services.
We believe it's unlikely to happen, but please note that if you get a shipping charge of $99,999.00, don't panic! It means that you have exceeded the maximum weight of our cart's configuration. If this situation occurs, please contact us for a shipping quote or split your order into 2 separate orders and we will combine them for shipping and issue a credit if shipping is cheaper then what you have paid.
Can you believe that the shipping of small parcels within Canada is more expensive then shipping to the United States, or sometimes even to France or United Kingdom!
Since our collars and leashes are our main product, in order to keep the shipping cost as low as possible for you, orders of only one collar and other small items with a thickness of 2cm or less will be sent as Canada Post lettermails, in bubble envelopes. We understand that it is not as nice and pleasant to receive, but it is much cheaper then shipping them in a box as a small parcel.Other larger products, such as toys and shirts, has to be shipped as a parcel.
Because of the minimum cost to ship a parcel, You may find the shipping cost a little high if you buy, for example, only 1 toy , but try adding more toys to the cart and you'll see that you can order quite a bit of items before the shipping cost goes up. So you may want to consider getting more then 1 item at once.
For shipment of small parcels within Canada, Canada Posts calculates the costs depending on your location, using you postal code. Unfortunately our shopping cart cannot do that. We've tried to be very fair and honest in setting up the shipping amounts within our cart's configuration. Because of this, for some locations considered "remote" by Canada Posts, additional charge may apply.
When we receive orders that present this situation, we will calculate the proper shipping cost for your location and contact you. You'll be given the options of paying the difference, cut down your order and get a partial refund, or get a full refund for your order should you wish to cancel.
We apologize for this inconvenience. Please understand that this is necessary to keep the shipping costs down and fair to everyone.

We ship our orders to United States using Canada Posts Small Packets Service. As per Canada Posts, the delivery time is from 6 to 12 business days, but we had confirmation that some orders made it in even shorter time.
If there is larger items such as toys on your order, the shipping amount displayed in your shopping cart will be for Canada Posts Small Packets Ground service. The transit time for this service is 4 to 6 weeks.
We understand that this is a long wait. The shopping cart uses this service by default for larger items because it's the most economical way. We still can ship your order using other methods. When we will process your order, and if this price vs delay dilemma occurs, we will contact you with shipping options and let you decide which method you would like us to use.
Hounds-R-Us Martingale collars and Martingale leashes are custom made as orders are received. Therefore, no return, exchange or refund can be granted once the collar is made ( depending on the work load, the collar is sometimes made as fast as 1 hour after receiving the order). This is where comes the importance of understanding how to measure your dog and how the collar will fit your dog. Please refer to the section above for details.
If, right after you placed your order, you notice that you have made a mistake in the measurements or in the model, please contact us immediately here, or by using our telephone number that you can find at the bottom of your order that was emailed to you, and we will make the necessary changes to your order.
When you receive your collar, if there was a manufacturing error, please contact us and we will rectify it. If you realize then that you made a sizing mistake when ordering, we might be able to fix it also but you will be responsible for the shipping costs involved to send it back to us and for us to resend it to you.(back to top)
